Hello ladies!

As you may well remember, Myst posted some great information about chemicals in many of the products we use that are actually problematic. Inspired to make my life a little more organic, I made it my mission to hunt down a new line of hair and body products that would do just that. After some searching on the internet, I found a product line that caught my eye - John Masters Organics.

I have yet to try any of the products, but I’ll keep you guys posted as I go along. For now, I thought I’d let you know which products I ordered (there are a bunch!) and my overall ordering experience.

My hair:
To put things in perspective, I have a lot (and by a lot, I mean a lot) of fine hair. Each time I visit my stylist she reminds me how much hair I have, which really isn’t necessary because I live with it daily My hair is normal, but I do dry and straighten it daily so I like to use extra product to nourish and unless I actually use a flat iron and styling products, my hair tends to have a mind of its own. In the past I have used Aveda and Redkin products, but I wasn’t particularly pleased with either. Aveda isn’t technically organic and unless I was willing to spend $45 per bottle of shampoo and conditioner, I wasn’t able to get product that would protect my hair from intense heat. I also found that the Redkin products, particularly the conditioner, were too heavy.

Ordering experience:
This is the portion of my experience that hasn’t been so great. First, payment is only available through PayPal. This is fine, but I’m not a huge fan of PayPal in general. Second, the estimated shipping date was listed as 3-5 business days from the date of order. I ordered my products on April 23rd and just received my products today, May 11th (so much for 3-5 days!). I sent an email to their customer service department inquiring about the delay in my shipment, and I was pleasantly surprised to receive a response from an actual person approximately 3 hours after I sent my email. The customer service rep apologized for the delay indicating that an email should have been sent to me informing me that a few products had been backordered, thus the delay in shipment. In response for my patience (trust me, I wasn’t that patient!), a number of samples were sent along with my order including travel sized bottles of the Blood orange/vanilla body wash and body milk, and a packets with samples of each type of shampoo and conditioner. Needless to say, I’m happy again… I’m a sucker for samples! Additionally, I was informed that if this kind of delay were to happen again, my next order would be free.

I’ll keep you guys up-to-date as I start to use the products and let you know what I think. So far, I can tell you that everything smells great!

Old School Trick For Deep Conditioning Hair

A cheap and easy way to deep condition your locks? The answer is mayonnaise! I've tried it myself a few times, and it made my hair a lot smoother and shinier. The egg in mayonnaise has protein which helps strengthen hair (good for people who are on a mission to grow their hair out, like me). Apply mayonnaise to dry hair. If your hair is on the oily side, apply from the hair shaft down to the ends. Leave it in for 20 mins. If your hair is dry, you can leave it in longer if you like.

I'm not sure if you have heard about Samy Pure hair care products. I am recently going organic with shampoo and conditioner (because regular ones test on animals and have harsh chemicals :S). Samy Pure hair products have natural ingredients, are sulfate free-no harsh chemicals, contain no wax or residue (it's not surprising how many shampoos have that), and are 100% vegan with no animal by-products. It's also INEXPENSIVE , and you don't have to spend a lot of money on it like most natural shampoos and hair products. You can find Samy Pure products from your local drugstore. I've passed by them at the store a lot and have been putting some thought into trying it.

Lacey Schwimmer inspired look

Hi ladies,

When I was browsing online for dancer's pictures, I came by this Lacey Schwimmer picture which I loved instantly. I used this picture for inspiration to create a similar look on my own eyes.

Face
I used the Smashbox, Photo Finish Primer Light tester again to start the look. This really is a product that grows on you... As a foundation I used the Too Faced, Magic Wand Illuminating foundation in no. 2 New York Light, the brush at the end of this foundation was something I loved at first, but honestly, now it's starting to annoy me because I want to apply my foundation with my own brush and cleaning it means I wash away a lot of foundation that's stuck at the bottom of the brush. Still I want to use as little brushes as possible today because I want to prove to myself that I don't need every brush on the planet.

Eye base
The concealer I'm using under my eyes is Smashbox, Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer I used no. 2 . Over this I added a little Smashbox, Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, remember to patt this into the skin. Under my eyebrows I still use Benefit, High Brow and on my eyelids I use Urban Decay, Eyeshadow Primer Potion for a base. Because her eyes seem to radiate light I added Yves Saint Laurent, Touche Eclat in no. 2 all around my eyes. I always set my face and under my eyes with Make Up For Ever - HD Powder now using my "new" Dior, Backstage Makeup Powder Brush.

Eyes
My addiction to brushes is huge, but there was a time when I didn't have a brush for everything and I wanted to prove to myself that I don't need more brushes. So I only used my Smashbox, no. 26 Shadow brush and the Sephora, no 12 eyeliner brush I own. As a base colour I used Smashbox, Eyeshadow in Vanilla and on my eyelids I use the pink from a mini Smashbox trio Martini sent to me once, the trio is called Headshot (and is now only available in the Smashbox, Award Winners Kit). Over the pink I applied the bronze colour from the Smashbox Eye Shadow Quad in Supernatural. This colour is only available in the Smashbox, Glambox Volume 2 - The Supernaturals. As a liner I used the Stila, Smudge Pot in Black again. You can cheat the line by placing small dots as a guideline before drawing the actual line. For the lashes I used a Shu Uemura lashcurler I have and as a mascara I used Diorshow, Iconic in 090 Black.

To complete the look, I straightened my hair.

For Sofi and Ellenora my hair straight:
I use my Remington S2003 High Protection Fabric Straightener with Teflon Woven Fabric technology for straightning with John Frieda, Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Serum and Frederic Fekkai, Ironless Straightning balm.
The products I use to keep my hair as healthy as can be are Frederic Fekkai, Protein Rx Shampoo, Frederic Fekkai, Protein Rx Deep Nourishing Conditioner and Frederic Fekkai, Anti-breakage Treatment mask. If I want a more glossy look I use Frederic Fekkai, Glossing Cream and to enhance my curls I use Frederic Fekkai, Luscious Curls.
But after I've washed my hair I ALWAYS use Bumble and Bumble, Leave in Conditioner which I import from abroad, so that should give you a clue in how good it is and after applying this I always use John Frieda Frizz-Ease Serum in my still wet hair. This way it dries amazingly and if I straighten or style it afterwards it will have the best protection because then I'll use the other protective products on dry hair. I never use gels, waxes or any other products in my hair, so maybe that's why it can get this long without looking damaged, I don't know.

The colour currently in my hair is L'Oreal Excell 10' in 5.3 Golden Brown last winter I had L'Oreal Excell 10' in 5.15 Chocolate Brown in my hair.
