Now, normally I'm really skeptical of ANYTHING sold on an infomercial. I really like to see things in person before I purchase them. Also, I hate calling people and giving out my credit card number (We have nosy neighbors, lol
)
However, I've noticed lately that some popular infomercial products have been on sale at Target! Mr. Redrover bought me a "pancake puff" pan (if any of you have seen the infomercial, it actually works really well and is pretty fun! I really recommend it!)
Anyways, while I was at Target buying the usuals - inexpensive underwear, baby wipes, shoes, all the stuff Target is great for! - I saw the PedEgg. It's basically a glorified cheese grater. I had seen the infomercial a couple of months ago but was really skeptical, especially since the infomercial was TOTALLY cheesy!
Before I get to the review, let me preface this (and I'm sorry if this is gross!). I have a skin condition that causes my heels and toes form really thick, cracked calluses - basically I have some gnarly feet. I have used pretty much every product on the market to try to take care of this issue but nothing has really helped (I hate pumice stones with the fire of a thousand suns!!! grr!!) In order for me to feel comfortable wearing sandals or flip flops, I use a Dremel tool (basically a miniature nail buffer with rough sandpaper attached to it) to resolve this issue.
Or rather, I DID use.
The Dremel is a pain in the butt to use, it makes a mess, makes a lot of noise and let's face it, it's just weird to use a baby power tool on your feet (don't worry, this is kosher, my uncle is a podiatrist). I saw the PedEgg in Target and since it was only $9.99, I thought I'd give it a try.
I am SO GLAD I did! This thing is awesome. The simplest way to describe this is - it's shaped like a computer mouse with a miniature, sharper cheese grater on the bottom!
Now seriously, if your feet are fine normally, this probably isn't going to be really useful for you - you just won't need it. This seems like it's a pretty hardcore item. However, if you have really callused feet or a lot of dry, winter skin, this is awesome!
Basically, you take the little thing and swipe it up and down on the dry skin areas (there are instructions) and it shaves off the dead skin. Even better, the...ahem...sediment gets trapped in the egg so that you can empty it afterwards! Plus, it comes with an emory board attachment, so you can give it an ultra smoothdown after the initial treatment.pedegg
Literally, it just took a couple of swipes (I didn't feel anything - no pain or stinging) and I was looking at fresh, normal, baby-soft skin. Honestly, I was amazed and it takes a lot to impress me. I spent maybe 10 minutes and my feet looked perfect!
I'm going to think about posting before/after pictures (really, my feet were just gross and I'm embarrassed) but seriously, I recommend to anyone who needs a little exfoliation on their feet, this is an awesome product!

Ha! I literally saw this infomercial just a few minutes ago and thought that if it worked, it sounded like a good idea.
Also, the picture of the model emptying her PedEgg into the trash can is extremely gross.
That being said, I may have to invest in one of these!
1i saw this the other day at target and was going to get one but didn't. sounds easy enough
how does it keep from taking off too much skin?
2I bought this a month ago, I just opened it last Friday and it really works. It does get a little messy-sometimes as your going back and forth on your feet the ash falls on the floor (best to do it in the bathroom); however, the shavings are also in the dispenser. Great buy!
3Several people have recommended this item to me so now I might just have to go buy one... I would also recommend to you that after you use this you should coat your feet with Bag Balm every night; just make sure you put on an old pair of socks cause the stuff stains. This stuff is hardcore and will help keep your feet softer longer... (BTW- it is also good for sunburns...)

Wow girls, I never heard of this, I need to check this out, thanks for the post!
5Someone else reviewed this a while back (although without the extremely convincing foot problem backstory) and I saw them in Bed, Bath & Beyond today. I almost bought one! I think I really will get one next time I see it. Thanks for the great review!
6liltandweave - I know, it's totally gross, it's like disgusting parmesan cheese powder from my feet (yuck!) but I do have to admit...I get a sick satisfaction out of emptying it!
7I could use this, I have such dry winter skin (and calluses) that nothing seems to fully rid of it. I have a one item (by Artemis Woman) however it doesn't always work since the batteries die very quickly. Thanks for the review; I saw the commerical however I jus figured it was junk; now I have to look into this.
8I need to try this. Even pumice doesn't help my feet.
9Me too jen! That other review made me take notice of them at BB&B and I almost bought one. Now with this review, I am definitely buying one.
Thanks redrover for a great review
haha Parmesan cheese
10great review! I want one now. Especially for the weird gratification I'll get from emptying it at the end. :sneaky_evil:

13I'm not sure if you can get Newtons Foot Therapy in the US but if you can I highly recommend the chiropody sponge, which contains sulphur to remove rough skin and callouses. It's really easy to use and I find it brilliant - apparently it's a trade secret among pedicurists!

14Great find! I don't need to use anything more than a light pumice stone... but my mother could really use it! I'll let her know.
Also, I'd love to see before/after pictures! (My mom would buy it if she could see how great it worked!)
15A Dremal!
Brave woman, I'd somehow manage to take off at least 3 toes.
I might have to get one of these for my dad; his feet are scary!
16I am intrigued to see photos. I agree about the pics of the model emptying the Ped egg.
17I too thought this was so stupid when I saw it on TV. I bought one yesterday..haha...and it is the BEST thing ever!! It works GREAT. Yes, the emptying...ick.
18we sell these at Sallys and i've heard they work well but you have to be really careful not to go to deep in fact in the state of mt it is illegal to use them in a professional setting because of the high risk of cutting too deep and bleeding
19Ditto on this! I, too, am not one to buy into the cheap infomercial products, but since I own a rasp for grating cheese, this modified version for feet made sense to me.
And, am I ever glad that I purchased one! I have heavy callouses as well. This product did the trick in a very few minutes! It's wonderful to feel good about my feet again!

20I got this for my hubby, it must be arriving in a few days and I'm pretty excited

The love we give away is the only love we keep.
I reviewed this awhile back, and I still use mine. I'll be using it more now that it's sandal season! I still get lots of shavings on the floor, even though it claims it keeps the shavings inside the egg. Oh well, I still like it!
22I saw this product in Bed, Bath & Beyond and ALMOST bought it. After reading this, I'm going to go get one. It had replacement thingies, too. I guess that's for when the blade gets dull. I wish I'd bought it then because I have hard skin on my heels too, from walking barefoot all the time. Thanks for the info.
23redrover, thanks for your review, i would actually like to see the before and after pics, i have a friend with diabetes and she get some good size corns and was looking at this, i think i will get one too, i love getting pedicures, but can only do it every 2-3 weeks and use a pumice stone like mad in between, but this sounds like it would last much longer
24Great review! I'm scared of it because my feet are so ticklish and the commercial makes me want to vomit.
25GREAT REVIEW INDEED! I AM SCARED OF IT TOO BECAUSE I AM REALLY TICKLISH! I GUESS THAT'S A SMALL PRICE TO PAY FOR SUMMER READY FEET THOUGH! I THINK I WILL HAVE TO GET ONE ASAP!!!!
