I know many have signed up to and already have received several samples from Mario Badescu. I got mine about 10 days ago. I haven't tried them all, but I wanted to share my reaction to the Special Cleansing Lotion C.
Here is the description from the website as well as the ingredients:
Formulated with Sulfur and anti-acne ingredients, this aggressive astringent is one of our best acne fighting products. Deep cleans, disinfects and dries up acne inflamed, oily skin and removes build-up that can cause future acne.
Ingredients: Deionized Water (Aqua), Isopropyl Alcohol, Camphor, Sodium Sulfate, Cucumber (Cucumis Sativus Fruit) Extract, Gum Benzoin, Nonoxynol-9, Boric Acid.
Good for these Skin Types:
Combination, Oily
'Aggressive' astringent is an understatement! I used this for two nights after a mild cleanser (Cetaphil) and followed by a moisturizing night cream (Olay Regenerist Night Recovery). I really should have realized how harsh this would be from it's strong scent. I know many people advise just to skip anything with alcohol in it altogether, but I like using a toner to wipe off any extra residue that my cleanser doesn't get. I don't consider myself having sensitive skin because I can handle some pretty strong stuff, but this left me just raw and flaky for several days (I still feel like I can't get rid of some of the flaking skin). I've used a couple of scrubs in the shower for the last three days to even this all out, but I still notice the dry, scaly patches- eww, I know!!
Well, I just wanted to share in case anyone was curious or expecting this product in their sample packs. Anyone else give this a try yet?

I have received my Mario Badescu samples too, which included the Special Cleansing Lotion "C". I've been using it for about a week and so far I love it, enough that I'm considering buying it. I'm wondering if you got a AHA Cermimide lotion as well? Because I got that and I've been putting that on afterwards and it balances my skin's PH so it's not so dry.
1lemuse- thanks, very interesting. No, I didn't get the AHA Ceramide lotion with it- I got an aloe moisturizer which I didn't try with it. My face just literally stung so bad afterwards I thought a good night cream would help. You know, I actually emailed them regarding some missing samples (which they quickly sent out to me) so maybe I should contact them regarding that lotion. Thanks for the heads up! Maybe it is just me..
2I think I will try it again when my skin evens out a bit and nothing major is going on- I am a glutton for punishment.
Maybe you just have sensitive skin and this does not work for you. Dry skin can lead to breakouts, so I would not use it again.
3Oh no sofi, poor you! It sounds more like paint stripper than a cleanser! I recommend using olive oil as a cleanser for the next few days until your skin recovers
4I'm grateful I don't have to use any kind of astringent for this very reason! I wouldn't try it again Sofi, unless you like the idea of stripping your face raw again
Sounds like you have sensitive skin, so sorry it hurt, ouch!
5I didn't get that astringent. Actually, I'm not even going to use the one I got. I don't believe that toner is necessary. Cetaphil does a great job of cleansing your skin. My suggestion would be to get a very hydrating moisturizer to put on the dry patches and not scrub those spots. It will probably irritate the area more.
Thank you so much for posting this! I'm so sorry this happened to you
Try to keep your chin
up, it will all be over in a few days
6I filled that form out a while ago, but have not yet gotten any samples, or an email, donno if they're sending them or what? Do they have a cucumber toner? I hope it doesn't have alcohol in it.
