Recently, our city was blessed with the mecca known the world over as the alternative to Target, Kohl's. (I'm in the south so we're always behind.) Anyway, I wandered into the cosmetics department, and was pleased to find that you can actually test the products (all of 'em!) before you buy! This is a main complaint I have of drugstore cosmetics departments - including Target. How do I know if it's the color I want if I can't try it on? So, of course I immersed myself in this mini-Sephora and played all afternoon. Well, I purchased some American Beauty products (more on those later) and some Flirt! products, which I think deserve to be reviewed. So, here it goes:
Peek-A-Blush Sheer Powder Cheek Color in "All Dolled Up": I really like this product. The color is a really pretty pink, and it goes on smoothly. But you have to be careful, because it's pretty highly pigmented, so a little dab will do ya. This particular color doesn't really have shimmer to it, so it's nice for all skin textures. Product description: A sheer powder blush that applies evenly with blendable color in a variety of finishes. $10.00
Dreamy Eyes Eyeshadow in "Moonstone" and "Witchy": Moonstone is a pinky-mauvey-purpley hue that I really really like. Again, this seems to glide on easily, but the color isn't as opaque as that of the blush. Witchy is a taupe-pewter kind of color that I also really like. They're a little more shimmery than what I'm used to wearing, but it's nice to switch it up a little. I've also noticed that it seems to last a really long time, so that's a huge bonus. Product description: A crease-proof eyeshadow formula that applies smoothly with a palette of buildable color choices in a wide variety of finishes. $10.00
Tintalicious Lipsheer in "Queen": Even though the name of the color is a little weird (drag queen, drama queen, etc.), it is a great color. Pink, but sheer enough not to look like pageant makeup. It's very smooth, and lasts (surprisingly) a long time. I usually top it off with gloss. Product description: This sheer lipcolor with SPF 15 offers a kiss of color with just the right amount of sheen. $10.00
Plushious Liquid Velvet Lipcolor in I forgot the color I bought: Okay, I love the consistency of this product, I love that it is more pigmented than a sheer lipgloss, but I don't like the finish (or the color I bought, which is probably why I can't remember the name of it). I usually top it off with clear gloss because it looks sort of chalky on its own. Product description: A liquid lipcolor that applies like a gloss but covers like a lipstick for incredible color intensity with a shellac shine finish. $10.00 (I'm not sure I agree that it has a "shellac shine finish.")
So, overall, I'm giving these products 4 out of 5 stars. They're relatively inexpensive, you have the option to test them before you commit to them, they have cool packaging, and they're all pretty long lasting. Oh, I should add that the colors of the products in the images are not the colors that I purchased. I couldn't get those as an option.

Nice review, RCL!! I think Atox liked the eyeshadow, too.
1Thanks!
2Great review! I've never bought makeup at Kohl's but I've always wanted to check it out. And this makeup is nice and affordable! You've inspired me!
3I love the flirt line of make-up, especially my glamourazzi eyeshadow, love it to pieces!!
4Looks cute - I don't think there's a Kohl's in my entire state though
5okay, looked it up and there's 2 - both over 3 hours away
6Oh, well, it's not THAT good. LOL
7LOL at wynter! There are 3 Kohls within 20 minutes of my front door
I'll send ya some, pick your colors!
8Aw, that was sweet, la_c!
9Clique there are Kohl's all over Knoxville! It's crazy how many stores that they have in that one area.
10great review! thanks for sharing. i love kohl's too!
11I know! I don't understand why there have to be sooooo many. And they are always packed. I don't get the appeal of that store.
12I like Kohl's. Totally affordable and they have a much better selection than a lot of the other stores here. But I live in the middle of crapsville.
13lol, I'm just wishing for a Target soon! Unfortunately the big news for our newspaper is that we're finally getting a Ruby Tuesday's though - that made front page headlines! lol At least it's a safe little town, even if it's boring.
14I know Clique, I never really shopped there either.
15Wynter, watch out, we all know that as soon as Ruby Tuesday's comes into town, things get a little dangerous! LOL. (J/K)
16haha - yeah, I'm scared.
17nice job RC Cola
18Great review! Maybe I'll try these.
19I like the Flirt! line.
It's very much like MAC in my mind.
