Hi Ladies!
I headed to the nearest mall earlier today to visit a MAC counter and Sephora. I found out there's actually a MAC store in our mall, so I went in there, and discovered they still had the Peppermint Patty nail polish and had that set aside for me, then wandered around looking at all of the amazing colors until I'd seen everything and then sat for a makeover. The woman who helped me did an absolutely amazing job! I ended up getting a new foundation (the Face and Body Foundation), the shadows she used, a Lipglass and a blush. I'll figure out the colors and list them at the bottom of the post. Then over to Sephora, where they had a DJ and I got overloaded and didn't get anything. While in there I realized that I hadn't purchased the nail polish in MAC, so back over there to get it.
Then I headed home (30 minutes away, or so) and when I got home I was going through my haul and discovered that I'd been double charged for one of my eye shadows. I called the store and found out that in order to get credited for that, I'd have to go back to the store. I was less than thrilled, especially because it's the opposite direction of my work, and there wasn't a way to make it anything than another trip out to the mall. I took a nap, then got back in the car. When I got to the store, I got in line, and then asked to talk to a manager. I wanted to know what they would do for me, since there had been two screw ups with my purchases. A few minutes later the manager came out and said they'd refund me for the foundation!
So, I am incredibly impressed with how they dealt with today. I am pleased that they took care of things this way, as I really did enjoy going in there, and I LOVE my new makeup.
After that, I got the Shu Uemura eyelash curler. And I just opened the box and learned that someone used it and there's mascara on it, AND the second pad is gone. DANG IT! I'll have to call them in the morning . . .
What a day!
Ok, MAC stuff:
Face and Body Foundation in C2
LipGlass in Viva Glam V
Powder Blush in Cubic
Eye Shadow (for brows) in Omega
Eye Shadow Quad with Brule, Malt, Sable, and Print
-Update - added (low quality) photos

I used Mary Kay Eyesicles in Vanilla for my eyeshadow base, Brule all over my eye, Malt in the crease, Sable in the outer crease, and Print for my liner.
I also used the Face and Body Primer (applied with my Sonia Kashuk Blending Sponge), Cubic blush and the Viva Glam V LipGlass.
One of my friends saw this makeup yesterday and immediately determined that she needed to "check out this MAC place." We made a date to head there next Saturday, when I exchange my eyelash curlers from Sephora.
I wish these pictures were better . . . I think I look better than these photos show
Cotswold Company
I'm glad you ended up with such great customer service at MAC, after all that. I love MAC shadows, and I use print for my everyday eye liner, and it's great blended for a dramatic night shadow.
1Bummer about the curler
Print is such a gorgeous color . . . I will definitely be practicing lining my eyes with it. It's not too harsh, but it really made my eyes stand out (and not look smaller)!
And I guess I'll be headed BACK to the mall (third time in two days) tomorrow about the curler. I'm going to get LOTS of samples from Sephora this time around
2Sounds like you're really happy with your makeup... If you get the new curler.... and you start playing around with everything, tell us how you like it (and show us??).
3Woo hoo! Today I successfully put my makeup on and got the same look as I had yesterday (done by the woman at MAC)! I'll do it again tomorrow, and get some photos from my school iMac and post those.
4Yeah!! Do that!! I'm soo curious! I'm happy you're having fun with your makeup!
5That is awesome! I really love MAC for eye and lips!!! I have not really tried the nail colors (I am a huge OPI fan) so let me know how it works!
6You added pictures!! I love them!
7Yay
8great job!
9Too bad you had to take so many trips to the mall, but you got a good haul. Very pretty! Good job
10What an experience! Yikes - I'm so glad that it was a great one in the long run. It's hard to find good customer service these days
Cute pics too!
11You look awesome, your trip reminds me of my first MAC trip. It's all very exciting
.
12Thanks for all of your compliments! MAC is super-fun . . . I'm glad that I was able to remind you of your first MAC trip, Jessie! You are a total inspiration to me. But my next question is: how long before your second trip? I'm headed back on Saturday with my friend (return the eyelash curlers at Sephora, too), and I already know a few things I will get. For sure I am getting two bottles of the Fix+ spray. I'm going to use one as a primer (the woman did last week and it felt SOOO good) and put the other in my desk at school. It'll definitely keep me going after lunch for the last two periods of the day (any teachers out there know that the last two periods after lunch are the worst behaved, no matter what grade you work with).
In other words, "Hi, my name is Hyzenthlay, and I am officially addicted to MAC."
13LOL
14That's funny!!!
15
Have fun on Sat!!
16Awww thanks Hyzenthlay, that's very sweet of you to say
. I definitely think
it's ok to go right back after your first time you go, I did. The first time you go is so experimental and your buying things that have been recommended by boards or SA, but when you go back
the second time you can buy things you realize you need based on trying the make up on at home and the experience you built going the first time.
The first time I went to MAC I got signed up for a make over event, so I had to go back, but when I did I grabbed a few things like paint pots (now I have an addiction to them) and Fix+ and other things I didn't realize I'd need or want the first time around. I especially liked products that would help me with the little make up I had already.
Now after your second trip you just have to keep the trips in check
...or not and be
prepared for your new addiction.
17The good thing for me is that I HATE the mall. I'll go when I have to, or when there's something that I *really* want/need, but I don't go to just wander around. That will make it much more difficult for me to "just pop in" to MAC and buy a few things.
18Ditto, I especially hate department stores. I have a free standing MAC store, not in a mall, but it's enough out of my way for me not to go too often.
19I love MAC shadows and lip glosses, but if your skin tends to break out or be sensitive, be very careful with their foundations, etc. They were horrible on my skin and I have encountered countless people who have experienced the same problem.
But, if you don't have skin problems, they give great coverage!
20I agree with Sofi.
21@lilkimbo: I was concerned about the foundation breaking me out or affecting my skin, as I have sensitive, eczema-prone skin on my face (eyelids in particular). I'm really pleased with the Face and Body Foundation I got, and I haven't had any problems with it so far, which makes me VERY happy!
As far as everything else goes, I went back to MAC on Saturday afternoon and managed to only pick up two bottles of the Fix+ Rose. It definitely gives me a small pick-me-up at lunch for the rest of the day, and I've sprayed it on two friends who absolutely LOVE it now too
I traded my Shu Uemura curler for a new one, and so far it's all right. It's easier to get it closer to my eyelids, which is great!
I got some other UD shadows while in Sephora (all in the pinky-purple range, except for one silver color) that I'm trying out today, and liking
I'm also starting to see the difference between a slanted eyeliner brush, a straight eyeliner
brush, and one of the gel eyeliner brushes. Online ordering for me now!
And I will still have to take my friend into MAC (I ended up at a meeting in Sacramento, one exit down from the mall, so I went without her last weekend), so I will be going in soon.
Ah, the fun!!
22I sooo wish I could go shopping with you one day!!
23Cee, I wish you could come shopping with me too!! I mean, it is all basically your fault, now, anyway
24Hahahaha... Guilty as charged
