Fellow BPJ's, I need some guidance. Up until now, I haven't really focused on a hydrating eye moisturizer. I sometimes use an eye treatment/serum (samples I have collected or either Neutrogena or Olay) but realize I am lacking a good, moisturizing eye cream. After a serum or treatment, I typically just apply my daily moisturizer all over which has been working fine. The thing is, I have been experimenting with different under eye concealers (for my very annoying dark circles) and find that my new, fun, fine lines (gasp) are being accentuated as well.
The time has come for me to focus on more hydration for this sensitive area. Anyone have a HG eye cream that hydrates and possibly has some antioxidant properties- maybe even sunscreen? I would love to hear about a good one with hyaluronic acid but don't want to break the bank either. Thanks lovely ladies!

My dermatologist told me Preparation H. I saw a NP last year for my yearly derm appt and she was trying to get me to buy some expensive eye cream and she was like....if that doesn't work, the only solution would be surgery
I saw my doctor this year and she was like...don't
waste your money, try PrepH. Not only that, SHE uses it. I haven't gotten around to buying it but it is def on my list. I beleive it is only for under the eye, though
1I wish I had something good to suggest.
Instead I will stand by waiting to see some
expert opinions because I need something good also. There is a Benefit eye cream I want to try next because of its depuffing abilities. I only tested it in the store and I liked how my under
eye area felt after. It comes in a tube, can't remember the name...
2But I think it's more of a temporary thing and not a long term result cream. Also, have you noticed eye creams don't contain sunscreen? I think it's an irritant for eyes. Maybe there are some that have it, but I've never seen one. Just wear sunglasses.
I tried Prep H and it didn't really work for me. It was kind of greasy and it stunk.
But maybe I got the wrong kind.
3No, it probably all stinks
I would wear it at night so I don't think that would bother me that
much.
4I use the Stri-Vectin eyecream and I love it. It doesn't have a SPF but I use Cliniques City block every day, so that's fine by me. The plus of no SPF in your eyecream is that if you wear eyecream at night as well, you don't need a non SPF one for nightwear.
5Neutrogena is very good as well.
Believe it or not, I used to be a makeup artist (of sorts). I say that because I do not look like I work at the M.A.C counter, but I worked in this industry, and know some of the tricks. Prep. H is great for bags, puffy eyes but does nothing for undereye circles (the same ingredient that shrinks hemorrhoids shrinks puffiness and also very temporarily diminishes the appearance of cellulite( ask anyone who is in pageants). The problem with many concealers is that in order to COMPLETELY cover under eye circles, you are going to want something thick (sheseido has a great concealer-never ever ever use pink or beige, lean towards yellow tones,Madonna used them -they are rumored to be geared towards Asian woman, who generally aren't pink toned)Bobbi Brown and Sheseido have the best shades, but if you are on a budget remember....STAY AWAY FROM BEIGE OR PINK tones, and u can always return things at the pharmacy, and apply for the first time in natural light. Also, don't go too light, this only highlights the problem. Opt for a moisturizing eye cream (I use La Mer eye balm, but wont splurge on it again) then use a yellow toned concealer and then apply a cream concealer (never use stick on undereyes) and pat with ring fingers (because this area does not need to be rubbed or pulled-not enough ).Of all the makeup you buy, the most important to splurge on is a good, natural toned concealer!!! Many other things you can absolutely get away with buying in cheaper, non-department stores.(mascara, lipstick, translucent powder and eyeliner to name a few)
6That makes sense...it just working for the puffiness
What do you think of Boi-ing? That's
pretty thick for a concealer? I love that stuff.
7thick under eye creams only make wrinkles more visible.Be careful!!! I never use them for eyes (only pimples if needed) and use yellow concealer and a more sheer skin toned concealer and translucent powder over top.Works great!!!
8You may already know this(Physicians formula has many different colored concealors at a low price)Green camouflages red (for pimples) yellow camouflages blue (for under eye circles) .Hope this helped
For night I use aveeno positively ageless eye serum (the one with the mushroom extract lol) and then for day St Ives eye stress gel followed by clinique all about eyes concealer. If I wake up really puffy I just take some paper towels, dip them in ice water, and place them over my eyes for a few minutes to ease swelling and constrict blood vessels (and they feel nice, too)
9Thanks ladies. I am not so worried about puffiness- cold tea bags (for the chill as well as the caffeine) actually work really well. My dark circles actually get covered well with Bobbi Brown products or another Sephora palette I like, but I layer them and fear everything settling in the lines and looking cakey.
10As for the Prep H, I've heard about that one for a long time, but using a steroid like that (hydrocortisone) for a prolong period time causes skin to thin according to a few sources I've encountered. I don't need the skin there to be any thinner or more sensitive- it would probably accentuate my circles. I personally would be worried for long term effects.
The spf thing isn't that necessary because of my sunblock and moisturizer (always sunnies as well), but I'd love an eye cream that hydrates the skin so any lines disappear and concealer can't get in there. I've heard products with hyaluronic acid actually penetrate in this way and 'plump' the skin. I would not splurge on La Mer- never.
I do recall something about a Clinique cream in Allure or something.
Thanks for all the input BPJ's!
For puffy eyes, I've actually picked up a Patricia Wexler product from bathandbodyworks.com that has gotten good reviews:
http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/sm-patricia-wexler-md-dermatology-fastsc...
I am not consistent with it, but I do see some difference when I use it.
11I use one by AVON that's really good. They have good eye creams.
12OH! Well if you use Bobbi Brown products to conceal - get her hydrating eye cream!!! It works amazingly well with her concealers. It's pricey but so soft. It's my favorite. I wanted to like MAC fast response eye cream but when I try to spread it it pulls my skin - Bobbi Brown's is like butter!!! Try it out - ask for a sample - you'll never go back. It's got avocado oil in it...so good. Oh and I love that it doesn't claim to do anything thing specific for your wrinkles... it's just great maintenance for aging naturally. No eye cream is really going to get rid of dark circles or prevent all wrinkles... ever. BB's eye cream, feels good, is hydrating and is a great prep for her concealer. That's all an eye cream can be.
13details- that sounds great and exactly what should do the trick. I love BB but never paid attention to her creams and such. I don't want to give up the concealer, but after a couple of layers (yikes) I just feel like it gets cakey and obvious. I'll most definitely check it out.
Hopefully, keeping the eye
area hydrated will slow wrinkle formation. Thanks for the feedback
14The dark circles I'll have to deal with and blame genetics
I received an Ole Henriksen eye cream (fresh start eye creme) as a sample from Sephora and really liked it. Like you, I've noticed the area around my eyes has become really dry, which is unfortunate because the rest of my face is a bloody oil slick.
15Ooh, Ole Henriksen always has very good products with lots of antioxidants, too. I'll check his stuff out at Sephora (hopefully tomorrow). Thanks lucyS
16My skin is pretty sensitive ~ I have to go with Estee Lauder, and I've yet to be disappointed.
17I sure hope you find what you are looking for!
Hi
I didn't read everyone's posts... but as most of you know, I use some BPs from
www.skinactives.com. I like their Bright-I Cream. I recently had a very severe allergy
attack that made my upper and lower eyelids swell almost completely shut. Yes, I took a picture, and yes, it's why I haven't posted MU pictures recently.
Anyway, I've been using the SAS Bright-I Cream three times a day to overcome the wrinkle tragedy and am extremely pleased with the progress. Not only are the fine lines I have/had fading dramatically, but also the broken capillaries are under control. (Very dark dark circles). This comment comes Highly recommended from a very skeptical BPJ.
18Forgot!
When I started using the eye cream - I attacked my husband as well! He got every dose that I did and his eyes look amazing (except when he doesn't get enough sleep- then I bring out the big dogs
). They upper and lower lids are no longer dark and the puffiness has gone
down incredibly. Also, his crows feet are no longer visible to me unless he smiles
Let's just say that it made enough of a difference on him for me to say that not only is it a good solution for my problem, but that I also know someone else who has had amazing results.
We've been using the SAS Bright-I Cream (On the Products page, click on the S-U tab) for about 3 weeks solid now. I'm looking forward to the continuing results.
They no longer include Vitamin K in it because there are some people who have an allergic reaction. I put it in mine though. I put a fairly strong dose in it that turned the cream yellow, but you can't tell when it's on the eye.
The website is very good at telling you every detail, including what each ingredient is used for. Again, highly recommended.
19Thanks areidz- I've taken a quick look at the site before but not long enough to figure out what I need. Good to have you back!
20hi sofi, i am late to this post of yours, but i can tell you what i use/deal with. i have always present purple-ish dark circles. i really don't think anything works on them and us sufferers fall prey to cures/products. hylexin being one in my opinion. very expensive and didn't work for me that is. anyway, i have used boi-ing and didn't care for it, a little too thick. bare escentuals bisque covers any skin imperfections fine, but i don't like it for my circles since it settles into fine lines under the eye. so i find that a thin liquid concealer is best and i use a dermablend liquid concealer i got at a department store. i like it, but i am going to try benefit's erase paste next. i think it is fairly new and my shade was sold out at a sephora store i last went to. i tried it in the store and liked it. as far as eye creams go, i love stryvectin eye cream. i don't think there is spf in it, but i like it for fine lines. it has been my favorite i have tried so far and you can find it on sale sometimes. i shop at a department store called bon-ton where it is on sale from time to time. i think it runs $60 full price. i hope this helps.
21thanks dlmslp- I need to look into strivectin. I saw a promotion at Ulta (until Sat). I've since boutght a neutrogena eye cream with retinol and hyaluronic acid- no spf. Let's see how it works for two weeks. I have been stressed and started noticing fine lines under ONE eye in the last few weeks- so weird. I also had some samples of Olay dermapods that I only first used today- I like them. I have always been so lazy about eye creams, but I need to keep on it from now on-yikes!
22thanks for your input
I've always used an eye cream, day and night, I'm not too picky about brands. I think just keeping it hydrated works well - it has for me. I'm 50 and don't have crows feet and very minimal lines under my eyes. Dark circles now that's a whole nother story.
