I haven't used toner in years. I picked some up at the Clinique counter years ago along with a whole skin care line, but seemed to get lazy with using it. Previous to that I just remember some toners reaking like alcohol, so that turned me off. I was thinking I might try giving toners a second chance, because I read how they can correct the PH in your skin. I'll just have to scour MakeUpAlley before I hit the stores.
Do you use a toner?
Martick Jewellery
No I do not, should I?
1I use a facewash by Olay that has a toner in it, so yes, I do use one.
2I guess I should add that I sometimes when I wear alot of makeup, I wash my face at night with Philosophy's Purity, which is supposed to contain a toner
3I've been a hardcore user of the Body Shop's Tea Tree range for about a year now, but I've recently stopped using the toner... not for any particular reason, just because I'm lazy, I think, but I still use it from time to time. It doesn't make my skin noticeably better or worse, although it can be slightly drying...
4I don't use toner.
5I feel that it is an unnecessary step.
I agree with Lily - it's unnecessary. Cold water works just as well, I think.
6I use it and I think it saves my skin. I use a gentle one without alcohol. It balances and also sloughs off dead skin cells.
7I don't get how a face wash can have a toner in it, you would just be washing it off. It's like 2 in one shampoo, it never really conditions your hair.
8Anyway... I've tried a few toners, rose water, green tea, olay, neutrogena, origins and molten brown. None of them knocked my socks off, but I liked molten brown the most, if I were to purchase a toner again, that's the one I would buy.
I don't use toner unless I absolutely need to. It's a waste of time, and can overly dry and inflame sensitive skin. I use an AHA to slough of dead skin cells 1-2 times/week.
9Also, if you have oily skin, it will suck out the sebum in those areas, and you're thinking you're getting rid of the oil. Well, in turn, your body thinks your skin needs hydration and will over compensate and produce even more sebum than necessary.
10No. My skin is very sensitive and toner would probably irritate it. I used to though when I has nice skin as a teenager. I loved my Ten-O-Six toner
11Yes, toner is an absolute must for me. You should see all the grime left on the cotton ball after I use my toner. And this is AFTER I've used cleansing oil and a separate foaming cleanser. I'm prone to breakouts, so I swear by DDF 10% Glycolic Toning Complex. It's a real godsend for my skin.
12I think I used seabreeze as a teen, if I remember the name correctly! Yeah, the drying out is what I'm worried about. I think I might be too lazy to keep up with that extra step, anyway.
13Nope!
14I use Burt's Bees tomato toner during the summer when it's hot and I perspire. Oh, the humidity . . .
15I don't but I used to, I had this really nice avacardo and cucumber based one. It sounds weird but it was really good.
16Sometimes. I like the fresh feeling it leaves you with.
17SeaBreeze!!! That's a total blast from the past!
18Yes, I use Alba Botanica Hibiscus toner...it's organic and smells fresh and I love the way it makes my skin feel. I've been using it for awhile now.
19I use rosewater as toner. Very gentle, smells good and most importantly, alcohol free.
20Rosewater is great malu but another alcohol free toner that is good is h2o's.
21I don't use toner unless I feel my skin feels like it still has residue after washing and in that case I will use witch hazel on my face or rosewater.
22I recently starting using Clinque toner & I've gotten a lot of compliments. I also just found out from my sis-n-law, if you do not use toner, you can use peroxide. I'm waiting for my toner to finish before I start using the peroxide. (I paid for the Clinique.) LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
You May Judge Me BUT Keep The Verdict To Yourself !
23i dont use toner i just use a mild foam wash from clinque. i am not so sure about the peroxide i would stay away from that if i were you.lol lol. i just have to say something to that one.
24yeah, spj999, there was a recent post about peroxide:
25http://teamsugar.com/group/88093/blog/1571481
But you must read Bella's comment and research- don't know about peroxide being the best long term.
well maybe i will have the nerves to try it some day..
26In reference to the peroxide, I haven't tried it yet myself. My sis-n-law has been for a week and her skin looks nice and clear. She told me that she read it on teamsugar.
"You May Judge Me BUT Keep The Verdict To Yourself"
27spj999, Bella references a piece by thebeautybrains.com that says after long term use the peroxide (since it really 'oxygenates') will breakdown the skin- seems to clear the skin well but doesn't help in keeping young, strong skin. I thought the piece was interesting and really makes sense.
28I like what Bella and Sofi have to say about hydrogen peroxide used on the face. Although it seems like a good idea, I think all of us want to keep our younger looking skin.
29i used to but found that a good wash and moisturizer work way better than using toner
30never one noticed any difference so i see no point and so many cleansers have that in them now
31I use the 3 step by Clinique and loved it. I found the toner tightened my skin and made it feeling fresh. I just switched to Lancome just cause I've been using Clinique for awhile but I'll probably go back in the winter months.
32No, I go super natural with my face makeup.
33Rarely do I wear makeup though.
Nice thing is that I can get away with it.
