So I had an awesome serendipity the other day (for those of you who have not seen the amazingly cheesy John Cusack movie, a serendipity is a happy coincidence).

I was driving home with my SO from his parent's house (about a 4 hour drive). I was in full-on war paint, since I usually tend to dress up around his parents and we went straight from their house and hit the road. I'm the type of person who can't stand to sit around in makeup for no reason. Add to that the fact that I cannot, for the life of me, stay awake in a moving car (I've had some close calls in the driver's seat!) and I was a really unhappy camper. No one like sleeping in a face full of makeup!

We stopped for a quick pit stop at a Walgreen's and I ducked into the bathroom and (don't judge me!) washed my face with liquid handsoap at the bathroom sink! I couldn't help it!

Anyways, my face was immediately tight and uncomfortably dry - an only slightly better option than greasy makeup face. I didn't have any moisturizer with me so I figured, I'm in a Walgreen's...I'm sure I can give them money in exchange for a moisturizer.

Of course, doofus that I am, I didn't really look at what I was buying and instead of purchasing actual moisturizer, I bought 8% AHA cream! I'll tell ya, when you think that stuff is a moisturizer and layer it on, it burns like none other!

However, I realized by the time we got home (a few hours later) that my skin felt really smooth. I've been using this for a few days and what I've noticed is that it's not overly irritating (provided you avoid the liquid handsoap facial!) and it really is helping my skin! I use this during the day (with some SPF 30 moisturizer) and use Differin at night and haven't really seen any flakies, so I'm excited!

My skin tone is brighter and clearer. I'm struggling with adult acne (I got a college degree and a face full of pimples...) but I've noticed that my current pimples are...purging a lot faster and the scars are fading. The Differin really wasn't helping that much (I've been on it 6 months and haven't seen a difference at all, plus it's expensive) so this might be what I go to instead of paying out of pocket for the Differin cream.

Plus, the best part is, it's cheap! I would have expected a lot of the above results from an AHA, but most of the ones I've seen have been really unaffordable - I can afford $6 for a huge tub (this will easily last 6 months, in my opinion).

The ladies on MakeupAlley gave it really high marks, even though it's a store brand - however, a lot of them mentioned having problems finding it. I say, if you happen to be in a Walgreen's and you notice this stuff, it's worth trying. $6 isn't a lot to risk and the benefits are truly worth it!
