Hi!
If any of you tried the Murad or Mario Badescu anti-acne line, which seemed more effective?
I'm interested in Murad's Acne Spot Treatment

and Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion.

They have a $.50 difference so I'd go with any of the two. I just can't seem to find an effective anti-acne treatment and gathering from the good reviews of these products (and the brand itself), it's kind of confusing which one really makes the mark. >_

drying lotion sounds HORRIBLE. The best anti acne is just proper moisture, otherwise your face is stripped of its natural oils. At least that is my experience!
1I've used Murad. It's wonderful. They also have a moisturizer within the acne line and it's great. I highly recommend Murad. I've never used Mario Badescu. From what I've heard from my dermatologist, drying your skin out (even with acne problems) is a big no no. Skin needs moisture, afterall, isn't the human body comprised of like 2/3 water????
2Murad worked great for me. I mean from experience it all depends if you have oily non sensitive skin that's acne prone (like mine) then murad will work for you but u have to use it twice a day, nothing else for about a month to see results (1st wash with the cleanser, then the exfoliating gel then the skin perfecting lotion) but if you have sensitive acne prone skin then I wouldn't suggest trying murad because it is pretty strong. Some people say it didn't work for them but it worked wonderfully for me. As for the other mario one, I can't comment on that one because I've never heard of it let alone tried it. I would suggest if you were to try the murad, buy the kit at sephora that's like $35 the one that lasts about a month, to see if you like it, then if you see results then buy the big bottles. Let me know how it goes!
3I've tried both Murad and Badescu, and I actually think the Murad made my skin a bit worse. I know that is pretty common for a lot of new treatments, especially for acne--it makes you worse for a bit before it makes you better--but I tried the trial-size kit by Murad at Sephora and venemia mentioned and it just gave me some really bad breakouts. (I didn't stick with it, so ultimately I don't know if it would have worked for me, but I didn't think the painful pimples on my cheeks were worth it). I started on the Badescu line and it improved my skin a bit--nothing drastic, but it worked for a while (for reference I used the anti-acne cleanser and their special c toner). I think the Murad spot treatment is not as drying as the Badescu drying lotion, but I also think they're for different types of pimples--the Murad spot treatment seems to work more on the angry red pimples (or on pimples that are just starting), and the drying lotion works better on pimples that have already come to a head (whiteheads). The drying lotion doesn't make them disappear over night, but I have definitely noticed that it does shrink pimples in size pretty significantly overnight.
I hope that helps! I know you can go on mariobadescu.com and fill out a skin profile--they will send you some samples (don't know about the drying lotion though) so you can see if anything works for you before you shell out the cash. Good luck
4yeah, i really like Murad- very well-thought out line that covers all issues. The drying potion is mainly alcohol I thought. Sounds like a quick fix but not great for overall skin health.
5@LaurenG22: Yup, it does sound horrible! ^_^ That's why I'm having second thoughts about actually purchasing it.. thanks for commenting!
@sgrbby32: Thanks for recommending! Yes, our skin does need moisture, no matter how oily it could get..
@venemia07: Yup, we have the same skin type. I'm into the L'Oreal Pure Zone line and it's really for the non-sensitive skin types since my mom tried the moisturizer once and she was yelping how it stung her skin (she has oily, sensitive skin).. >__<. I think I'd go with Murad since people here seem to like it.. ^_^ thanks!
@sofi: Uh, I think I'd leave the whole alcohol deal with my hand sanitizer..haha
6thanks for commenting!
still @venemia07
: Sephora's not existing in my country, unfortunately
but I could still get these products nonetheless.
7My daughter is a Murad convert. She loves it. It does run out pretty fast tho. It really controls her breakouts without drying her skin, and skin DOES need moisture. The other line that we use is called Sensaria - it works well if your skin is sensitive to harsh ingredients bc its organic. You can find it online at Sensaria.com. I use it since I still break out occasionally at 39 (!) but have sensitive skin.
8I used the Murad system last summer, but it's REALLY drying, and I had to stop using it. The spot treatment is quite effective.
