When Bella recently unloaded a bunch of hair and beauty products in the office common area, I jumped at the chance to try out a new-to-me styling cream from Arrojo. I wasn't familiar with the brand, but styling cream is one of my must-have hair products. Designed for use on damp hair, the Arrojo Styling Creme ($15) sounded like just the thing to smooth and define my naturally wavy, air-dried 'do.

The product promises to "slick, set and hold ... making locks soft to the touch," which is pretty much what I expect from a styling cream. I want it to smooth my hair as it dries and weigh it down just enough so it's not frizzy or static-y. But I was disappointed in the Arrojo cream, as it seemed to have almost the opposite effect. It made my hair feel coarser and seemed to increase the potential for frizz, tangles, and static electricity. Rather than smooth the hair as it dried, the cream made it look more frazzled than it would had I simply let it air dry. Even more off-putting was the scent; the styling lotion smells almost alcohol-based and medicinal. I think I'll stick with my MOP C-System Styling Conditioner for now.
