I've been strictly a gloss girl for a long time. I haven't bought a lipstick in YEARS.
So I was a bit nervous to try out a lipstick. But I liked this color and I had a coupon code, so I purchased Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Hug It Out, which they describe as a "pink nectar (pearl)" color.

Okay. Now, when I received the lipstick, it didn't look anything like a pink nectar to me. It's more like a medium pinky-brown with a bit of shimmer. Good thing I like to have pinky-brown lips.
So the color being off was a happy accident, I'm okay with that. The lipstick goes on VERY lightly and feels pretty velvety, more like a light gloss then a lipstick. It's not thick or sticky, but smooth. It barely feels like I'm wearing anything at all.

WAY more brown than the pics from Benefit indicated, right?
4 stars. If I were you, I'd buy it at a counter if you can, since the color was so off. But if it weren't for the color being off, I'd give it 5 stars!

1It's a pretty natural color and it looks great on you. I'd personally wear it with a pumped up smoky eye to balance out the effect. Love your shiny hair girly!

3I think it looks great on you, Whip. I, too, tend to shy away from lipstick because I hate the sticky/cakey/heavy feel, but I may have to check this stuff out.

With most lipsticks I stick with something that I don't have to reapply due to dry lips. Ask around at makeup counters. Or I just wear a lip balm tint. But if I want to try a new color, I go to a store and see if it complements you/see if it will change colors (reds invariable change on me).

18thanks for the review- i live for benefit cosemetics! i hadn't tried this though cause i normally am not a lipstick girl either. i'll definitely be going to the benefit counter soon to check out the colors!
