Wow, Ladies, this is an amazing opportunity - Smashbox Studios is having an all-day class that just sounds out of this world! It is lead by a Smashbox artist and includes $1500 worth of product and a slew of other extras and benefits! The price tag is a bit steep, but I think it is worth it! I am considering seeing if I can round up a group of my girls to take a trip to LA to attend this!!

Wow this class sounds amazing.
Can any policy, however high minded, be moral if it leads to widespread corruption, imprisons so many, has so racist an effect, destroys our inner cities, wreaks havoc on misguided & vulnerable individuals and brings death and destruction to foreign countries?
1This does sound great but sadly I can't afford it. Damn this recession!
2Wish I could go. But the holidays have my cashed all tied up.
3But please tell us all about it if you go.
Dana, if I do go, you better believe I will come back and tell everyone all about it! I am thinking to ask for it as a Christmas present in lieu of my current list!
4Martini, if you do go - please dish and show us looks.

14It's very very expensive, but it's also a great place to be "discovered". And the lifetime VIP
Oh, CCee, you don't even NEED this class! You could probably TEACH it however!!!
15i am REALLY intrested in this class already emailed to reserve my spot and everything. i'm trying to get my dad to pay what he would for a reg christmas present then i'd pay the rest.
16do you think the price is worth it, i do but my dad is skeptical.
I would attend, if they had one in NJ, PA or DE.
17Wow that is expensive but looks amazingly fun!
18Sounds fun. I can't afford it though.
19I wish they took "suger Points" as payment!

the price is definitely worth it. You get $1500 in products from Smashbox, so really the class is FREE. You also get 70% off THAT day, and 40% lifetime discount!! Its amazing. I like how the ad says only 15 seats....does anyone really believe that? I signed up and am on the list....surely there are more spots?? Im going from Jersey. Martini..where are you from?
21hollywood, I am from Seattle. So, it is not so far for me! I am really excited to hear that you are on the list. I am still trying to convince the hubby...
As you correctly point out, this is so worth the price and I am just so excited about the chance
to sit with a professional and learn all kinds of tips and tricks!
22Omg. That sounds all kinds of awesome. But I will be in Spain, with very minimal amounts of makeup (d*mn baggage limits!).
23baila - OMG! How will you survive without your (legendary!) stash????
24I am so excited I will be going to the workshop on the 3rd!! Is anyone going on that day? I agree It is a lot of money, and I am coming from Canada and the exchange on money is not good either. Thank goodness I have friends there and I don't have to stay in a hotel! I just hope the networks they give us and the information is just as amazing as it sounds!!!
25Well who ever is going can't wait to meet you!!!
Best Regards,
Jenelle Forde

36whats ur email so we can keep in touch!?
37MATERIALS: Existing kit (products & tools)
so does that mean we should bring what ever exsiting stuff we already own or are they talking about the stuff they are giving us?
38Hey! I got that too and had the same exact question! I cant bring all my stuff across country!! I thought we were getting a kit of over 1500$ in product..but the flyer seemed like we are supposed to bring one.
I emailed back to ask..bc i dont think we should have to bring stuff. I think it should be supplied per the advertisement.
I will let you know what i find out. I have to make my final payment tomorrow as well!
39Hey Everyone, I read that also!!!!
MATERIALS: Existing kit (products & tools)
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN....If they think I am going to bring my kit across the border...
!!!!THEY CRAZY!!!! I can't take that on the plane. They must mean something else.
It did say Pro Kit Valued over $1500....That's why its worth $980.
Let us know when you find out.
I'll Bring my brushes but that's about it.
I wonder if we have to bring models to? LOL!!!!!!!
smiles

Hey ladies...i just got an email back...she said that we need to at least bring our "brushes and tools". So, I guess they will (should) provide makeup and we bring our brushes and any tools..but..whats a TOOL other than brush? Sharpener, etc?
41I think they mean something like a basic pro-kit:
Face
Foundation Brush for applying liquid, cream, and powder foundations.
Concealer Brush for precise application of concealers. (also great for applying lip colour!)
Large Powder Brush for flawless application of powder to face or body.
Small Duo Fibre Face Brush for lightweight application and blending of fluid, cream, powder or pigment.
Blush Brush for applying powder
Eyes
Angled Brow Brush for applying powder, liquid, or cream products as eyeliner, or to the brows.
Precise Eye Liner Brush for a controlled, ultra-fine application of any powder, liquid or cream-based eye liner
Tapered Blending Brush for contouring the crease
Eye Shading Brush for detailed lid blending of eye shadows
Large Shader Brush for all-over lid application of eye shadows
Lips
Lipliner Brush for controlled lipstick or eye liner application.
Other Helpful Accessories
Lash Brush for separating lashes
Wedge Sponges to use as “erasers” or apply product
Lash Curler
Pencil Sharpener
Brush Cleanser
70%+ Isopropyl Alcohol to clean products, & work surface
Hand Sanitizer
Q-tips: the makeup artist is always on eye boogie patrol!
Cotton Pads great to use under your hand to prevent smudges in the makeup! or to use for cleanup.
Tweezers
Band-aids
Extra
Business Cards

I'd also bring a handheld mirror (if you want the model to see her makeup up close during application or you need her to place her mascara herself).
Take a nail file (that means you don't "damage" your model with your nails) (also keep your nails fairly short and make sure your hands are well looked after when you get there, you wouldn't want anyone with dirty/ugly nails to touch your face an entire day would you??).
If you own one, bring a brush belt.
Bring makeup remover (just in case you make a mistake, remember oily does remove easier but also leaves an oily surface).
Take with you your all time favourite product and the product you don't know what to do with (to ask how to make it work).
Maybe bring false lashes and glue.
Don't forget some cream (for dry patches) and lipbalm for chapped lips.
Take some breathmints with you, you'll be up close and personal the entire day so.... a fresh breath is a priority.
Bring some snacks just in case you (and your model) get hungry.
Bring water, fruit etc.
Finally make sure your makeup is applied amazingly well (unless they tell you to come with bare skin), first impressions are everything in this world.
42thanks ccee for the great advice!!
The class was AMAZING!!! so much fun!!
43hollywoodglamour, jenelleforde, blondebabe2006 please update us on the class!! how was it?
44Hey Guys!!
45Well the class was great!! Meet alot of great people. It was nice to work with great People. LORI TAYLOR she is amazing!! Such a nice person and so real! Learn't a few things which was good, but I have been doing make up for over 15 years!!! They are going to have new classes coming up. They where talking about having a class for Women of Color which would be great! So look out for that. Depending when that takes place and how much money I may be there!!!! The books they said we would get where disapointing and the network contacts was also disapointing. But again the contacts they did give I had them already. modelmahem, makeup411, and there was one other.
But overall it was Fantastic and I am glad I went!!! You can always learn something new and meeting people in the buizz....ITS GREAT!!!
XOXOXO
Jenelle
I agree 100% with janelle. The book was not what was expected, not sure if we are getting our work reviewed by davis factor (or him walking around the day of was it?!)..and Im not sure where they got the 1500 of product from ... But I def would attend another class..great for a resume and the pics look amazing!! I loved just meeting Lori and Hank!
46I just have to add something else here ladies..on a serious note. I dont know about the rest of the artists, but I must say I was a bit disappointed and STILL am as of this moment with Smashbox. Not only was the networking book disappointing, but the ad also said we would get PRO KIT valued at OVER $1500. I came home and added up what I thought to be much less than $1500..product added up to less than $900 bucks. I emailed about it to the artists and to Smashbox. Other artists once I made them aware were upset as well. Smashbox emailed saying they will mail us out the rest of our gratis that was "out of stock" within 10 bsn days...that date, has already passed. I personally got an email from Smashbox asking me to stop emailing everyone about the product, which I didnt appreciate. Many artists did not get the CD of their work that day, and were told it would be sent to them OVERNIGHT. Two weeks went by and they didnt get them. I got a second copy for some reason two weeks later as well, which was not in good shape. We were told we would get a certificate from smashbox saying we took the class, havent gotten it. Also, it said our work would be reviewed by Davis Factor..he was there for maybe 10 mins and walked around saying "so all these people want to be makeup artists" . We all thought he would personally look at our work and critique it..not the case apparently. So..we are all still waiting for the rest of the product that we never received..and our certificates. I love love love lori and hank..as well as the smashbox brand. This was their pilot class - mistakes will happen. But they are a huge name and well respected - but at least do what you say you will do and when you say you will do it. Someone is still waiting to hear on the status of of gratis...she emailed about a week ago....
47hollywoodglamour, that is indeed disappointing!
You would think that, even though this is
their first such class, they would be better organized! Let's hope they take these as "lessons learned" for their next class!
